About Community Ed

We provide an opportunity for local citizens and community schools, agencies and institutions to become active partners in addressing education and community concerns. Community Education brings community members together to identify and link community needs and resources in a manner that helps people to raise the quality of life in their communities.

This is accomplished several ways including youth enrichment, adult enrichment, adult basic education, facility use and recreation. In addition, school-age childcare and community theatre are offered in Sauk Rapids and Rice.

Our program guide is mailed three times a year to all ISD 47 residents and a copy is available on request. FALL is mailed in August, WINTER/SPRING in December and SUMMER in April. Our offerings open to non-district residents as well.

Community Education is a unique education concept that embraces these beliefs:

  • Education is a lifelong process;
  • Everyone in the community—individuals, businesses, public and private agencies —shares responsibility for the mission of educating all members of the community;
  • Citizens have a right and a responsibility to determine community needs, identify community resources and link those needs and resources together to improve the community.
