A Message from Principal Olson

Dear Families,

Everyone knows what has been on my mind this week—and, honestly, ever since I was hired (last spring). It is my hope that I get to stop talking about the Safety Zone very soon, but I knew that we had an unsafe student drop-off and pick-up area around Pleasantview Elementary School and it was going to be a priority to fix.  

On a very positive Safety Zone note, we had an amazing second morning in the Safety Zone! Superintendent Bergstrom was out speaking with families who were attempting to drop off on 11th Street, and I am incredibly thankful for the many families who used the Safety Zone and did not try to “beat the system.”

Hopefully, you discovered something important this morning: it only took about five minutes to get through the Safety Zone loop! We were busy, but we operated successfully, safely, and efficiently. I could not be more proud of our Pleasantview families (and our awesome staff) for making this happen.

Now, let’s have that same success this afternoon!

Please continue to follow the Safety Zone procedures and designated pickup times. Our goal is simple: get every child home safely while keeping traffic moving as efficiently as possible. Thank you for your patience, your cooperation, and for doing your part. I truly appreciate everyone who is helping us make the Safety Zone work for our students, families, and staff.

Let’s make Day 2 a great one from start to finish! Like I shared earlier, it is my hope that I get to share stories about our students, staff, and families in future weekly updates.
